Plenary: Continuous Runge–Kutta methods for delay differential equations
Application of numerical methods for ordinary differential equations to equations with delays becomes nontrivial when time- or state-dependent delays, or even constant but non-rationally proportional delays are considered. In the talk the choice of one-step methods for delay differential equations is justified, and use of methods’ continuous extensions for such equations is presented. Special mention is made of vanishing (or just very small) delays, for which the so-called overlapping occurs and even explicit methods are applied fully implicitly. The solution for the problem is made by continuous extension of the stages. Reduce of computational work by stages reuse and structural properties of the equation exploitation is also considered.
